Grow Irrigation Adds Mazzei Fertigation Injectors to its Line

Grow Irrigation Adds Mazzei Fertigation Injectors to its Line

Grow Irrigation has added selected Mazzei Venturi chemical injectors to its line to help its customers accurately fertilize their plants through their irrigation systems. Mazzei is a pioneer in Venturi-style chemigation equipment and is a world leader in that category. Grow Irrigation has selected polypropylene ¾” and 1” injectors from the Mazzei line which cover a broad range of applications.

Mazzei Injector

Venturi Injectors provide an accurate, safe and reliable way to introduce fertilizers and chemicals into irrigation water flow with no moving parts. Because of these features, together with their simplicity, Mazzei Venturi Injectors have become a leading choice for chemigation and fertigation by growers around the world.

The Mazzei injector works on a Venturi principle where a slight flow constriction causes a vacuum condition. The vacuum sucks chemicals and fertilizers from a tank and into the irrigation flow, and can be accurately controlled using a metering valve at the injector input. Since irrigation water flow is the motive force behind the chemigation, chemical injection automatically stops when flow stops. Mazzei injectors are chemical resistant and have no moving parts.

A Mazzei injector is typically installed on a bypass circuit in an irrigation system. For example, if irrigation water flows through a 2” pipe, a ¾” bypass can branch off of the pipe, go through a ¾” Injector, then branch back into the pipe as shown below. A restrictor valve in the 2” line is partially closed when fertigation is to take place, causing in a pressure drop between the input and output of the injector which makes water to flow through it and put the Venturi into action.

 Mazzei Injection Bypass

To put together the bypass shown above, use a Cepex True Union Ball Valve sized to the irrigation pipe as the restrictor valve (shown in yellow), and either Cepex True Union Ball Valves or Economy PVC Ball Valves as isolation valves (shown with red handles in figure). The injector shown in the figure is a 584-PP 3/4" Injector connected to a K-184 Suction Kit.

The ¾” Mazzei injector is sized to introduce fertilizers and chemicals into the irrigation water at up to 25 GPH, while the 1” injector can inject chemicals at up to 100 GPH. Suction kits are available for each size which provide a connection from the fertilizer tank to the injector along with a needle valve for metering.

Use Mazzei injectors to inject chemicals through your Greenhouse Drip, Greenhouse Sprinkler, Spot-Spitter, Nursery Sprinkler or Drip Tape system.
